Riding for More Than Miles: My Journey with MS Bike Colorado

This year marks my first official post about one of the most meaningful events in my calendar: MS Bike Colorado. If you’ve ever seen hundreds of riders gathering at sunrise, clipped in and ready to take on miles of road through the beautiful Colorado landscape, you’ll know it’s more than a cycling event—it’s a community rallying for a cause.

For me, it’s also a personal commitment to a principle I try to live by: set goals that scare you a little, because that’s where the real growth happens.

The power of an uncertain goal

When I first committed to riding the MS Bike Colorado, I wasn’t sure I could finish. Between work, family, and the normal curveballs of life, carving out training time felt daunting. But I believed in the cause, and I knew that sometimes the best goals are the ones where you’re not 100% sure you’ll make it—because they force you to dig deeper than you thought possible.

Training for the ride meant early mornings, tired legs, and more than a few days where “I’ll skip it today” was tempting. But every pedal stroke reminded me why I signed up: to help fund research, support those living with MS, and prove to myself that the finish line is worth the fight.

Why it matters—on and off the bike

Completing the ride was more than just crossing a physical finish line. It was about showing up, pushing past doubt, and honoring a commitment. Those values—integrity, resilience, and follow-through—aren’t just for the saddle. They’re the same principles I bring to my work and my relationships every day.

When clients and colleagues work with me, they get someone who:

  • Doesn’t quit when the road gets steep—literally and figuratively.

  • Keeps commitments, even when they’re uncomfortable.

  • Pushes for better results, not just the bare minimum.

Looking ahead

I plan to keep riding for MS Bike Colorado for years to come. Every mile is a reminder that we can all make a difference—whether that’s in a fundraising total, in someone’s fight against MS, or in the way we show up for the people who depend on us.

Setting a goal you’re not sure you can reach is scary. But the satisfaction of seeing it through? That’s worth every challenge along the way.
